The Mineral Oil Division provides some of the core activities of Saybolt, including a wide variety of inspection and analytical services available for the handling, transport and storage of mineral based liquids.The International Desks in Rotterdam, Houston, Taiwan / Singapore and our Middle East coordination centre provide assistance around the clock, seven days per week, to support the Mineral Oil Division and maintain direct contact with its customers.

Services of the Mineral Oil Division include the independent quantity and quality inspection of crude oil and gas on board of vessels and barges, quality testing of crude oil in Saybolt laboratories, crude oil quantity measurement in various types of shore tanks and storages, quantity inspection of Rail Tank cars, crude oil and gas quantity measurement during pipeline transfers, quantity
re-calculations using various types of calculation procedures, methods and tables, crude oil blending management, which includes blending calculations, cargo testing, blending supervision and cargo quality assurance, crude oil research, including development and maintenance of crude oil databases and statistics, terminal audits cargo measurement, pipeline transfer control and extensive analytical services for other commodities such as gas oil, natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, gasoline, naphtha, petrol, jet fuel and kerosene as well as lubricating oils.Mineral Oil Division special services include crude oil assays for producers and refiners, quality consultations, arbitration analyses, determination of cause-solution of contamination, control of additives and blending programmes.The MOD provides quality oversight to crude receipts on an on-going basis to enable refiners to optimise operations and minimize disruptions.
